Learning HTML basics can be a bit overwhelming if you have never used HTML before. But, once you get the hang of it, building HTML websites are easy and can be a very enjoyable process.

To start off, for those of you that are wondering: What is HTML exactly?

HTML stand for Hyper Text Markup Language and it is the most use language for creating websites. It provides a means to create structured documents using code to signify the start and finish of certain website properties such as, bold text, next paragraphs, headings, etc.

Do I Have to Be a Computer Whiz?

You do not need to be a computer whiz to understand simple HTML. You should have some knowledge of computers and be able to type with some profeciency. Since HTML is written code and websites have a lot of text that go along with them, it just makes the whole process move quicker when you can type quickly and with accuracy. This of course is not a requirement, and should not deter you from trying to build and create your own website.

I always recommend that you learn the HTML basics such as linking, paragraphing, bulleting, bolding, etc. I understand that many of you may be looking for a program that will help you jump right into creating your own website. There are many programs out there that write the HTML for you through some sort of block by block building process. I personally started with these and then moved away from them once I became more familiar with HTML as it gave me the felixibilty to create a look and feel I was happy with.
