Free Tools for Webmastersby Samo YanezicIf you have not used free tools for webmasters, then you are working too hard. For anyone who has built and maintained a website, you know that is not something that can be done without assistance. You can significantly lessen the amount of time it takes by finding and using online resources. The following is a list of some of the free tools for webmasters that I have used to build my own web pages. The first tool you need is a Link Finder. Every webmaster needs to be able to find all of the places on the web where there is a link to your page. This will help you access your ranking in the search engines. You will quickly see if you have enough back links or if this is an area you need to work on to move up in the search engine results. The second must-have tool is software for search engine ranking. The results will show you how your page stacks up against the competition. Depending on what your goals are and what results you find, you will be able to make an educated decision about what you need to work on with your site. The third of the free tools for webmasters that I have found very useful is a keyword analyzer. Keywords are the “key” to good rankings. It is important to find both the right keywords to use and the correct frequency with which to use them. By analyzing your website and your product with a keyword analyzer you can find the right keywords to use and the appropriate keyword density to maximize your results. Tool number four is a free tool for the building and maintenance of your site. Why pay for site building software when there are many quality programs available for free. You will be ahead of the game from the start by saving money on the website, so you are not in the red before you have even had a chance to reach a customer. A Meta tag creator is the fifth tool you should look for. The biggest, most popular search engines base a large portion of their ranking structure on Meta tags. This means that time spent ensuring that you have the right Meta tags in place will certainly pay off. Find this tool online and watch as the search engines start finding your website. Another free tool for webmasters is a multiple browser viewer. Many users of the internet no longer use Internet Explorer, so it is critical to check the layout and design of you website in other browsers, like Opera and Mozilla Firefox, as well. Otherwise you risk looking less than professional with a poorly designed website in the eyes of everyone using an alternate browser. A multiple browser view will let you compare the different layouts at the same time so you can see how changes will affect the look of your site no matter how people get to it. The final free tool that you need to maximize the potential of your website is a link checker. Dead links on your site or links to sites that have changed from there original intent will make you look bad and can hurt your results in the search engines. Try these free tools and watch your website rise through the rankings!
