Finding creative ways to save money is not always easy. With most of us pinching pennies, I find everyone is looking for the easiest ways to save money and to save money fast.

Of course the fastest way to save money if through depossiting into a savings account that you do not touch (this is why it's called a savings account). So how do you find wayas to actually save money into this savings account when you are already strapped for cash? Well keep reading.

Creative Ways to Save Money

Save Your Change. This may not seem like a lot but over a period of time it can add up to a lot. Some people use large water jugs. I find those to be overwhelming. They are very large and it takes forever to feel like your making any progress. Instead try a 1 gallon jug or a decent size piggy bank and empty you change into it at the end of the day. You can save anywhere from $15-$30/month ($360/year) by doing this. It's one of my favorites and it's easy!

Skip the Latte. Many of us are addicted to coffee. Now there's nothing wrong with that. I'm not saying do not drink coffee. I'm suggesting that you buy a coffee travel mug and make coffee at home in the morning. Skipping a $2-$4 coffee in the morning can save you $60-$120/month ($1440/year). That's BIG SAVINGS for a simple change. I believe some people in the financial world refer to this as the "Latte Factor".

Keep your Lincolns. I'm talking about Abe Lincoln that is. One creative way someone told me they save money is buy not spending their $5 bills. If they receive a $5 bill in change they put it in an envelope. It helped save him $100-$150/ month ($1800/year).

Make Money Saving a Game. See how much money you can save from week to week by refraining for impulse purchases. If you have a significant other, you can see every week who can save the most money. Don't be afraid to make prizes for winning each week or each month like cooking dinner or doing the laundry. It's amazing what a little competition does to rev up your saving juices.

Hold an Annual Swap with Friends. At the end of the year, swap with friends from things they no longer need or use. Getting a bunch of people involved can help save you hundreds of dollars a year. How many times have you bought something you never use? Well swap it out for something you will use.

Use 1/3 less laundry detergent. Very easy way to save money. You can also do this with hand soap, shampoo and conditioner. The same goes for paper towels and napkins. Using less means replenishing less. When you are done with your hand pump soap, use ti for shampoo. It keeps from over spilling and regulates the amount you use much better.

Split Meals. The world is suffering from an obesity epidemic, especially in the United States. If a restaraunt you frequent supplies huge meal portions, split it with your significant other or friends. My partner and I do this all the time. It really does save so much money and neither of us every go hungry.
